Enjoy quirky cocktails and a lesson in red decor in this small and seductive bar...
Given my love for tequila, I started with the Deadwood Dick, a spicy concoction comprised of jalepeno-infused Patron Silver tequila, agave, Grand Marnier, and fresh limes (a bit like a margarita with a fiery kick). Not for the fainthearted, the heat really comes through, making it great for those who like it hot!
My friend who was in the mood for something less spicy, opted for the Al Minzer, a sweet cocktail featuring Appleton Rum, Amontillado Jerez peach liquor, lemons, sugar and house bitters, which went down a treat. Other drinks we enjoyed during our visit included the rock- star cool Devils Goat, which arrived at our table served in a fabulous pink skull and featured Laphroig 10 yr, Dewars 12 yr, fresh ginger lemon juice and honey water and smoked bitters, making it smooth but strong. Last but not least, was the Kentucky Kevin, a bacon lovers paradise, which featured bacon-infused Woodford Reserve, maple syrup and orange bitters. The flavour was sweet and smoky, making it waaaaay too drinkable - especially for a Wednesday night when we had work the next morning! Overall, this is a great place to visit if you're seeking unique cocktails in an intimate environment. So, if you're planning on heading there soon, we recommend you get there early to snag a seat, because like all good things, the secret's out. A.A. Miln |
