Fancy cuisine it is not, but sometimes you just need good 'ol comfort food.
Herman ze German is a chain of German restaurants in London serving up hearty German cuisine, that hits the spot. Sausage lovers (myself included) can find a Herman ze German in Charing Cross, Soho and Fitzrovia.
Herman ze German started in 2008 after founders Azadeh and Florian started importing sausages from their family butcher in the Black Forest to sell at a pub in Brighton. They then took their sausages on tour to various festivals across the UK and six years later, are now the proud owners of a very successful restaurant chain.
So, the next time you're in need of some quick and delicious German fare, you know where to go.

At Herman ze German diners will find a variety of traditional German dishes on offer including: Black Forest German sausages (available in Chilli Beef, Bockworst or Bratwurst), Chicken Schnitzel and Currywurst. Sides include: Sauerkraut, Pomme Frites, Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Salad.
Beer also plays an important role here, and beer lovers will find a good selection of German beers to enjoy.
During our visit, my companion and I enjoyed the Chilli Wurst and the Chicken Schnitzel, both of which were very tasty. I also discovered a new love for their Chilli Wurst sauces, which I reckon would taste fabulous on pretty much anything meaty and delicious.
The vibe is pretty laid back, eschewing table service in favour of diners placing their order at the counter. Not to worry, though, as service is fast, friendly and efficient, and the staff are more than happy to wax lyrical about the origins of the sausages or beers.
