Chef Van Pham Thong launches sushi masterclasses at The St. Regis Mauritius Resort
The St. Regis Mauritius Resort has introduced a series of sushi masterclasses with head chef Van Pham Thong at Atsuko, the resort’s fine dining Japanese restaurant. A culinary destination on the island of Mauritius, The St. Regis Mauritius Resort delivers culinary brilliance with a commitment to delivering innovative cuisine inspired by contemporary gastronomic trends. The masterclasses will be based on the authentic specialities from Atsuko’s sushi menu. Guests will learn to create a medley of Japanese delicacies such as ‘Spicy Tuna’ which includes yellow fin tuna with spring onion, togarashi and chill oil; ‘California Roll’ featuring crab meat, prawn, avocado, cucumber and tobiko; as well as the chef’s special- a crispy Tempura sushi with fresh seafood and vegetables. Internationally revered as an expert in Pan-Asian cuisine, Chef Van Pham Thong has served sushi to several dignitaries and world leaders throughout his career. He has previously held positions at the 5* Marriott Hotel Doha and the One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai before being appointed head chef at Atsuko earlier this year. Chef Van Pham Thong said: “It is a privilege to share my passion for Japanese cooking with the guests of The St. Regis Mauritius Resort. St. Regis has always been dedicated to delivering a truly memorable dining experience and this is reflected in the masterclasses which will enable guests to relive their memories of Atsuko at home in their own kitchens." Priced from £70 per person, the masterclasses will be available daily upon reservation for a maximum of two participants. For an extra £10, an additional glass of sparkling rosé wine can be purchased to compliment the dishes and for those who like their bubbles, a glass of Champagne Brut will also available for an extra £14.
