Duke of Marlborough, Russell, New Zealand Destination Delicious review
Once famed for its drunken, rowdy sailors, Russell was the first permanent European settlement and sea port in New Zealand. These days, Russell is a classy Bay of Islands tourist destination renowned for its waterfront boutique lodges, B&Bs and rental properties.

No trip to Russell is complete without a visit to the historic waterfront Duke of Marlborough Hotel.
“The Duke”, as it's referred to by those in the know, holds New Zealand's oldest pub license.  Offering award-winning cuisine and romantic guest rooms, it's perfect for those looking to get away from it all in style.

Recently Masterchef NZ filmed an episode here, proving that it's a world-class destination. Visitors and locals alike come from near and far for the delicious entrees prepared with flair.  Dishes include pan-seared tuna, freshly caught green-lipped mussels, New Zealand rack of lamb or the fresh fish or pasta of the day.

Take in the stunning surroundings as you enjoy your meal on the wide deck overlooking the bay or dine at a beachside table, providing the perfect vantage point to watch the sails boats drift past lazily as the sun sets.
