The newest drink to take the nation by storm?
While coconut water has been flavour of the month for quite some time now, other naturally flavoured drinks are popping up each day. The lastest health drink that is set to become big news, if the coconut water trend is anything to go by, is maple water.
DRINKmaple is made with the sap from organic maple trees in North America. 100% natural with no additives, this water with a hint of a maple is exactly as nature intended. Tapped straight from maple trees in April, DRINKmaple has more manganese than a cup of Kale and is packed with 46 nutrients (including vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, antioxidants, electrolytes & prebiotics). Lola Biggs, dietitian, says: “The types of nutrients found in DRINKmaple make it a really effective, natural way to stay hydrated. The water’s unique composition means that it’s great post work out as its natural potassium content is equal to what you’d sweat out in the average hour of exercise. Swapping your usual spring water for maple water means you get a mix of nutrients and vital minerals such as Calcium, Iron and Magnesium, with fewer calories than a stick of celery.” Naturally low in calories (20Kcal per 250ml), it contains half the sugar of coconut water with no added sugar. It's also gluten free, dairy free, vegan friendly and non GMO. What's not to love? DRINKmaple.eu is available from Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Wholefoods. Each flavour within the range was tasty and unique, but my personal favourite was the Super Green, which sounds like a weird combination, but the flavours really work together. A close second was the Super Purple, which has a slightly earthier flavour, thanks to the inclusion of beetroot and avocado.
